Our Church Family

We are people of God who are proud to be a part of the rich tradition of worship, fellowship, and service at the Springs Church that has happened at the head of the Accabonac Harbor since 1882.

We are proud of our Food Pantry serving our neighbors in need every Wednesday, year-round since 1992.

At the Springs Church you may meet an original Bonacker.  Or you may meet someone from the village of East Hampton, Up-Island, the City, Upstate, or even farther away (the pastor comes from Virginia!)  In any event, we hope and pray that you meet someone who greets you and makes you feel welcome.

We are pleased to share our hospitable building with friends and neighbors who gather for various functions like birthday and christening parties; as well as regular meetings of the American Association of Retired Persons, Alcoholics Anonymous, dance classes, and Coffee House featuring local musicians.

Our roll of active members currently stands at 80 persons and growing.  Our church family includes families with babies, young children, and youth; middle-aged folks, as well as retired folks and seniors.

How to Join the Springs Church

The Springs Community Presbyterian Church is a community of faith with Jesus Christ at the center.  The Springs Church is her people who have committed their lives to Christ, giving and sharing of themselves to the life and ministry of the church – The Body of Christ.

We believe that membership is through faith in Jesus Christ and acceptance of his Lordship in all of life.  Some have attended Springs Church  with their families, for all their life.  Some come as visitors or guests.  In any case, people enter into active church membership by;

Profession of faith
Reaffirmation of faith
Transfer from another church

After acknowledging a calling or invitation to the life and ministry of the Springs Church, a prospective member will meet with the Pastor and Elders to be received as a member.  New members will be introduced to the congregation during worship.

There are three questions that are asked of those joining the Springs Church.

1. Do you trust in Jesus Christ and accept him as your Lord and Savior?

2. Trusting in the gracious mercy of God, do you renounce the ways of sin and the power of evil in the world?

3. Will you be Christ’s faithful disciple, obeying his word and showing his love?

Food Pantry

The Springs Presbyterian Food Pantry continues to thrive with the help of many volunteers and contributions from friends and many of the East Hampton community. Through this help, we can serve many neighbors in need. Because we are open every Wednesday and don't take a summer break we have packed and distributed over 2000 bags of food.  Many people count on us to provide a little extra for their tables in the lean times. We have made friends and enjoy seeing children come in and feel comfortable in our "Littler Church the Could." It is a very rewarding mission to the community.

There are many people who contribute, the local farms the season, restaurants that close for the winter, the Jewish Center, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Postal Service and local organizations and individuals. Springs School helps with Thanksgiving and Toys for Tots distribution. One of our neighbors, Mary, drops by every Wednesday without fail with a bag of food to add to our shelves, it's nice to be on her schedule, we really appreciate contributions.

We are most fortunate to have a group of dedicated volunteers to help with the packing, stacking, picking up donated food and distributing food. The Pantry works because of the team, thanks to you all.

The Food Pantry Team is less one very important person these days, Barbara Miller.  She was the best. We miss her every day and even more on Wednesdays. I know she's up there making sure we put the cans in the right place.
